Several studies that havebeen conducted in this field have proved that students’ awareness of the different comprehension skills develop their comprehension of the handed material. To examine the effect of the scanning skill on comprehension, a quasi-experimental study was conducted, dealing with two groups of first year LMD students of english at Larbi Ben M’Hidi university of Oum-El-Bouaghi. The first group served as a control \group while the other as an experimental group. Importantly, subjects in both groups were first tested and the ultimate goal was to get an idea about their current level so that results are compared later on. After the instructional period, a post-test was conducted for the experimental group as well as the control group. It is of interest to mention that the pre-test and the post-test were identical. The post-test results reveal that the experimental group subjects achieved higher scores than those of the control group. Therefore, we can say that the scanning skill plays a great role in developing student’s reading comprehension.enForeign language : englishReadding comprehensionThe Positive effect of implementing the scanning skill on learnes reading comprehensionOther
