The researchers extracted data from Scopus and employed Vosviewer as a tool to analyze the selected articles. The objective was to explore how design thinking is applied and its impact in the field. A total of 30 articles focusing on design thinking in higher education were analyzed. The results of the study revealed several key findings. Design thinking was found to be integrated into curriculum development and utilized in academia, particularly in business and management schools. The study identified various methods and approaches associated with design thinking, such as the adoption of DT-based boards, utilization of the IDEO 3I model, application of Reflective Professional Inquiry, emphasis on empathy, collaboration, and teamwork, implementation of the Design-Based Research approach, utilization of the Educational Design ladder, employment of the Double Diamond Method, exploration of the combination of design thinking with information communication technology, promotion of university-business cooperation, integration of design thinking with entrepreneurship education, and the establishment of design thinking labs. The research also highlighted examples of universities that have successfully incorporated design thinking into their curricula, with Stanford University being among the notable cases. Additionally, the study addressed potential challenges faced by educators and institutions when integrating design thinking, such as budgetary constraints and the need for mindset shifts. The findings of this study emphasize the potential benefits of utilizing design thinking in higher education. By incorporating design thinking approaches and tools, educators and institutions can enhance the learning experience and foster innovative problem-solving skills among students.
