More specifically, a comparison of two main types of tests: Multiple-Choice Questions tests and essay test have been carried out in view of determining the most appropriate test that is more likely to measure students' skill and abilities and reflects their real levels. To this end, a survey method is opted to gather data through two questionnaires designed and administered to first year masters' students of " Didactique des Langues ?trangères " an teachers of the same students at Larbi Ben M'hidi university, Oum El Bouaghi, during the academic year 2016-2017.
