This is achieved through an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design. The participants were first year Licence, Master and Doctorate students at the English department at Larbi Ben M'Hidi University Oum-El Bouaghi. They were divided into two groups, the experimental and control group. Participants in both groups were pretested in the first meeting before conducting the treatment through a multiple-choice task. Then, the experimental group was taught proverbs explicitly within three sessions received three sessions. However, the control group was not exposed to any explicit teaching. A post- test was administered after the treatment; it was the same as the pre-test conducted at the beginning.
