Such a policy emerged by the early twentieth century as a greatest challenge for erthinc, cultural groups to cope this open globalized world. The U.S.A is but an example of a nation where diversity is its main feature. But, in fact multiculturalism is still ambiguous among americans. The lack of cultural awareness, poor academic performance and oppression were major concerns for a society that has continued to be more diverse. For these reasons, multicultiral education takes place as a major curriculum component to solve this problem. It reformed the american educational system in wich all students can understand diverse cultures and create an effective multicultural classroom. The present dissertation tends ti look at the historical development of multiculturalism and the current situation of multicultural education in the U.S.A. wich provides a hope in a time when the future of some ethinc groups is unclear. Most importantly, it provides an opportunity for all americans to create a more equitable society.
