Abstract
The process of Impeachmentis an importantaspectof democracy. It is an effective tool againstcorruptionand isusedtokeepofficials undercheck.Impeachmentisa defining featureof theAmerican democracy.Itwaspresentinmanypoliticalissues throughoutthe American historyand especiallywith the recentcontroversiessurrounding thelegitimacyof DonaldTrumptohold post.Theoverallaim of thisresearchis toadvanceunderstanding of the process of impeachment. This research is dividedinto fourchaptersthatrelyon the historicalapproachand theanalyticalapproach.Thefirstchapteraims to evaluate,through literature review, the meaning, types and history of the process of impeachment. The secondchapteraimsto analysethecaseagainstAndrewJohnsonandhis impeachment.The thirdchapteranalysesthecaseagainstBillClinton.The fourth onecompares between the impeachable offences of AndrewJohnson/ BillClintonand Donald Trump. The researchaims toformulate thatimpeachmentisanimportantstrategy neededindemocracy.Oneshould note thatconductinga researchover the possibleimpeachmentofPresidentTrumpand historicalcontexts of Johnson/Clintonimpeachments cannot beattainedeasily.
