Abstract
The present study is mainly concerned with Investigating teachers' and students' perspectives and attitudes towards the role of interaction with native speakers in enhancing learners speaking fluency. It also attempts to shed light on the importance of such kind of immersion and exposure to the target language to get learners fluent in the use of the language. The basic hypothesis adopted in this study sets out that such distant interaction with NSs via social media would enhance learners' oral fluency. The method of this research work is descriptive.That is, it aims to describe the two variables: interaction with NSs through social media as the independent variable and its role in improving learners' oral fluency as the dependant variable.The data were gathered through self prepared questionnaires administered to Master One students and teachers at the department of english, Larbi Ben M'Hidi university. The results have shown that interaction with natives through social media is one of the available techniques for increasing learners' language speaking proficiency in terms of fluency. On the basis of these results, the hypothesis is confirmed in that students need to engage in such adequate interactions with natives through the use of diverse internet devices such as social media applications in order to be able to use a language without hesitation. This study certainly has its limitation, but its findings reveal interesting implications. Thus, future research should be done experimentally to test out the applicability to a larger population.
