Abstract
Terrorism is considered to be the shared threat that brought the world together. Numerous policies have been taken into account to limit, if not to eliminate, its proliferated roots. Setting an agreed on definition is considered to be a challenging task. The dangerousness of terrorism lies in the various causes, which have been motivating terrorists' attitudes and objectives. Terrorist groups differ according to their beliefs and orientations, and they usually have a national starting point to extend later on to attract global opinion. Algeria was among the few countries that were able to stand against terrorism. The aim of the current study is to investigate the reasons that lead to the emergence of terrorism in Algeria. Accordingly, the Algerian authorities introduced measures based on Reconciliation between the state and terrorists in order to restore peace to the country. Despite the fact that Algeria was able to defeat terrorism, the credibility of the process under which its strategies were applied, every then and now, is still questioned by many local and international parties.
