Abstract
The current study aims at investigating teachers' and students' attitudes towards the importance of raising EFL students' self confidence in enhancing their speaking skill. This research followed a descriptive method, using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The questionnaires were addressed to 10 oral expression teachers and 34 second year LMD students at the English department at Larbi Ben M'hidi University. The obtained data demonstrated that self-confidence has a great impact on the students' achievement as it is considered as one of the effective psychological factors that strongly affects the students' oral performance. On the basis of these findings the hypothesis is confirmed, and it has been proved that self-confidence is a significant factor that facilitates the mastering of the speaking skill.
