The aggressive Middle Eastern policy adopted by the U.S. in the aftermath 9/11 terrorist attacks has been and continued to be "cause célèbre of international policies", especially as it coincided the rise to power of the so-called neoconservatives (neocons). The current dissertation is an attempt to examine the immense role of the neocons in US's adoption of an aggressive policy towards Damascus during George W. Bush's presidency, which negatively affected US-Syrian relations. This work shows how would have an unexpected event accompanied with other factors allowed a handful of identifiable neocons to put their war agenda into practice. As it emphasized that such war agenda was motivated by the strong ties to the Zionist state -Israel- and prepared in tandem with the Israeli Likud Right. What makes it a pure Zionist agenda aims essentially at eliminating Israel's enemies in the Middle East region under the banner of fighting terrorism and protecting America's security. Also this work investigates the Syrian regime's activities in the Middle East and the reasons why such activities have been indicated as hostile and anti-Israeli, the accusations have been released against Syria to portray it as a threat to America's security and equally to eliminate an enemy of Israel within US's "War on Terror". Eventually, the present dissertation elucidates the tools used by neocons to change Syria regime's behavior or perhaps the regime itself and to what extent such tools have been affective.ar
