dc.description.abstractInvestigating the effect of classmate evaluation on improving EFL learners' writing skill has been tackled by many researchers in the last few decades. These studies were based on the belief that students may enhance their writing abilities through the use of this technique; therefore, the current study is conducted to investigate the effect of classmate evaluation prompts on promoting EFL learners' 12 minutes causal chain essay writing. The study took place at the Abd Alhafid Boussouf University Center, department of English, Mila. A quasi-experimental design was used to investigate the effectiveness of this evaluation. This study enrolled a sample of thirty (30) EFL students divided into two groups, a control and an experimental group. The latter received classmate evaluation prompts using an evaluation checklist during the treatment period, while the control group followed only the traditional method of evaluation. The descriptive and inferential analyses of the results reveal a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group results. As a result, the teacher can use classmate evaluation prompts in order to evaluate students' writing skill and to enhance their writing and learning outcomes. These findings have led to some implications for teachers of Mila University and limitations that we face during this study.ar
