Abstract
Western Sahara conflict was a conflict that invents a political crisis after the Spain withdrawal which gives a chance to other countries to be rivalry about the territory such as Morocco , Mauritania and Algerian . Moreover, Morocco objective through this invention is to incorporate the western Sahara territory within its borders and be part of it to be the hegemonic status in the Arab region . However , the POLISARIO Front had worked in order to prevent and challenge Morocco's claims. Algeria played a major role in this conflict which protect the Sahrawi refugees in Tindouf and support the POLISARIO leaders to reach their goal of independence and self-determination from Morocco annexation. According to this study, we hypothesize Algeria has a great part in this conflict and it supported the Western Sahara conflict to undermine Morocco's plans for incorporating the territory. But Morocco applied a hegemonic strategy in this conflict, while Algeria's methods of challenging Moroccan claims was to weaken the main goals of Morocco towards Western Sahara and incorporate the territory. Our present study is divided into three main parts the first chapter made a general overview about Western Sahara: The Forgotten Cause and some important titles that include it like Western Sahara: A Spanish Protectorate and Popular Resistance , and Historical Survey of the POLISARIO Front , the second chapter discussed Greater Morocco : ambition and claims and gave a detailed description of Algerian and Morocco relations : western Sahara concerns , the third chapter shed the light on Algeria and the right of self determination and focus on Algeria : important actor or concerned part. Finally, Algeria had used the POLISARIO as strategy to drop out Morocco's presence internationally , in addition , the Sahrawi independence was used by Algeria in order to build a reason against Morocco wishes and Algeria was the strengthen status in the region.
