| dc.description.abstract | The present dissertation is mainly an analytical study that attempts to spot the light on the theme of enmity in the US history through the military campaigns and global hostilities. From ferocious confrontations with the Native Americans, to the Cold War and the ideological struggle against the Soviets; and ending by hostility towards Islam and the war on terror; the dissertation examines how enmity as both a policy and a strategyhas been used against different ethnic or religious groups and even nation states. It intends to offer an in-depth understanding of the way by which American hostility towards others since its independence up to the contemporary period has been used to meet American self-interests. besides, the dissertation argues that enmity served as an outlet to destroy and destabilize countries that do not correspond to American political, economic and cultural ambitions. | ar |
