Abstract
Current researches in the field of language teaching have brought new methods and technics that aim at improving the process of learning. One of the most debatable alternative teaching tools is using diaries. what enlightens this tool in our study is the problem found and experienced in most EFL classes. In other words, most EFL learners do study english aspects for many years, but their writing is not the way it is expected. This study attempted to investigate the effect of writing diaries on developing EFL students' writing skills. On these bases, we hypothesized that writing diaries would improve EFL students' writing skills in what relates to punctuation, capitalization, grammar accuracy, spelling, and paragraph organization. An experimental design was used to investigate the effectiveness of this type of teaching tool. This study was carried out at Delfi Ibrahim secondary school, Fkirina, Oum elbouaghi. This research enrolled a sample of fifty six EFL students representing the control and experimental group. The experimental group used diaries during the treatment period, while the control group followed only the traditional method. The descriptive analyses of the results reveal a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group results. As a result, the teacher can make use of diaries in order to improve students' writing.
