dc.description.abstractEnglish for Specific Purposes (ESP) has received a crucial attention after the Second World War of its importance. Planning and designing suitable courses that fits the learner’s need is one of the major stages in ESP. It is conducted with teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). Despite the fact that, teachers face many problems while offering ESP courses, for instance, they might be not to be much prepared, in the light of fact that ESP courses are challenging and complex. Another problem is the lack of ESP teachers and they are not well prepared. The present study aims planning English for Specific course of second year History students, Human Sciences department at Larbi Ben M’hidi University OEB; they are conducting Needs Analysis in order to identify the learners need, and to design a suitable course. In order to examine the validity of this study, two hypothesis have been raised are history students need English for their suitable need, academic, and occupational matters. In addition, Hutchinson and Waters Needs analysis was used to determine those needs in the targeted population. To prove the validity of this hypothesis a quantitative method of an adopted questionnaire of PhD dissertation (Allouche, 2011-2012) is used from 25 students among 150 students. Based on the findings, the results showed that the learners want to acquire English to master the four skills: Listening; speaking; Reading; and Writing. In addition, to understand what foreigners works on historical documents. That is to say, it showed that the translation as a fifth skill. As a result, planning a lesson modal that is suitable for ESP learners is used as illustration.ar
