America has always been seen as a symbol of liberty and equality for other nations; however, the high representation of African American women in the US Criminal Justice System urges the need for further investigation to highlight the hidden part of this American system. This dissertation aims specifically to set out how racial disparities in the US Criminal Justice System resulted in mass incarceration of African American women in addition to the problems faced while being imprisoned, as well as the challenges they face after release. This suggests that the USA attempts to stereotype African American women through the Criminal Justice System. Such suggestion provides a clear vision about how African American women are treated in the American society.ar
