Abstract
With an emphasis on the viewpoints of EFL students, this research investigates the moral ramifications of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. Even while AI has the potential to improve learning, questions about its ethical implications are yet unanswered, especially when considering the viewpoint of students. In-depth, semi-structured interviews with sixteen Master 02 English didactics students from Algeria's L'Arbi Ben Mhidi University were used in this qualitative study. The data was examined using thematic analysis. According to the survey, although students recognize that AI can be more efficient, they also have serious ethical concerns about possible algorithmic bias, dangers to academic integrity, and a perceived decrease in meaningful human engagement. Concerns around data security and privacy were also raised by the students. The results emphasize that implementing AI in higher education requires a careful and moral strategy that emphasizes open communication, accountability, and openness among stakeholders. The study highlights how crucial it is to include moral frameworks and rules in the development and application of AI-driven learning environments. In addition to conducting longitudinal studies of AI perceptions and creating educational materials and training programs that address ethical issues, more study is required to examine the effects of AI on different fields.
