Abstract
Abstract: The plurality of meanings derived from a word is capable of leading to two categories of ambiguity: one produced involuntarily and the other which is the object of acrobatics by the sender. The latter relies on a number of procedures which, in our opinion, are the cause of the ambiguity which the authors of crossword puzzles use to achieve their aims by embarrassing their receivers. It is mainly this aspect of polysemy associated with that of homonymy that we intend to deal with in this study.
