Abstract
This study is aiming to analyze the impact of portfolio on evaluating Libyan lecturers performance for accountability and professional development purposes. The portfolio system was found useful in documenting lecturers performance for assessment and professionalism while not readily observable during classroom visits by administrators. Based on the final results evaluation, the introduction of portfolios assisted administrators in making finer distinctions about the quality of Libyan lecturers performance. Survey and focus group data indicated that lecturers and administrators viewed portfolios as fair and accurate measures of performance. Furthermore, this study proved that using online portfolio system will save time and efforts in this regard and this work has added a valuable source for the impact of portfolio on evaluating lecturers performance, accountability and professional development.
