Abstract
The main aim of the present research is to investigate teachers and students' attitudes towards the effects of tests anxiety on students' test performance. It also attempts to investigate the real causes that may make learners anxious prior or during exams. For the sake of checking the correlation between the two variables, we hypothesized that both teachers and students have negative attitudes towards the effects of test anxiety on students' test performance. We approach this subject by the aid of using descriptive method .Thus, the investigation was based on two questionnaires; the first was addressed to first year LMD students from English department at Laarbi Ben M'hidi University, Oum El Bouaghi. The second was addressed to English teachers at the English department. We checked out our claims via descriptive method, and our hypothesis was confirmed. The students' questionnaire was handed to forty (40) first year LMD students, during the academic year 2016-2017, in order to investigate their attitudes towards the investigated problem. The second questionnaire was administered to fifteen (15) teachers at the English department. The interpretation and the discussion of the obtained results confirmed our hypothesis that tests anxiety affects test performance, and both teachers and students hold negative attitudes towards the relationship between tests anxiety and test performance.
