Abstract
This study focused on one aspect of the reforms in the Algerian university which was applied at the beginning of the season 2004/2005 and it is known as the LMD system . This system is considered as one of the international trends adopted by university in higher education and which was imposed by a range of developments and global changes that seek to achieve quality and efficiency in this sector of education. Therefore, the subject of our study comes to clarify the role of the university in spreading the LMD system among the students. This study can be classified within the educational descriptive researches particularly those related to higher education issues. So, the problem of the present study focused on the required roles of the university in making the students ready to join the LMD system. To find answers to this problem, we adopted the following three hypotheses: - The university plays its informative role to prepare students to join the LMD system in their point of view. - The university plays its formative or pedagogical role in preparing the students to join the LMD system according to their point of view. - The university motivates students in preparing them to join the LMD system in their point of view. We have used the questionnaire as a tool for studying this subject because of its tight connection to the present research, which is considered as one of the most important means of collecting data in descriptive and analytical studies. We carried out this study in the university center of El Oued, specifically on LMD system students in social sciences department in order to know whether the university played a role in the students entry to the LMD system. After reviewing , treating and discussing the results. We managed to prove the first hypothesis related to the informative role of the university. As well as the proof of the third hypothesis concerning the motivation and encouragement of the university. While the second hypothesis haven't been proved correct which concerns the formative role of the university. This indicates the partial realization of the general hypothesis. Consequently, we were able ,through this study, to achieve a series of results, we'll state the most important ones as follows: - The university plays an informative role in preparing the students to join the LMD system. - The formative role of the university is still suffering from several deficiencies, the fact that makes it below the level required by the preparation process for LMD system students. - Encouraging and motivating students has a great interest by university and thus enables it to play a major role in the preparation of students to join the LMD system. We concluded our study by a set of suggestions and recommendations based on the results that we got from the present research and which serves the subject of our study.
