After fighting all the odds in the presidential elections of 2016, businessman Donald Trump became the forty-five presidents of the U.S. His campaign was littered with slogans that interpret his intentions "to make America great again". Trump introduced his foreign policy agenda, which was hinged on implementing tariffs, changing the U.S. international commitments, from renegotiating to withdrawing, and reshaping relations with different countries, including China and Mexico. Furthermore, Trump started a trade war with China in order to create access to foreign markets for American companies and limit China's economic growth which represents a threat to the U.S. position as a global power. Consequently, his aggressive foreign policy approach led to some serious consequences on American economy. Trump's protectionist approach harmed American businesses, which relied on exports, and decreased the foreign investments in the U.S. However, the Gross Domestic Product witnessed a noticeable growth alongside the historical decrease of the unemployment rate.
