In the present study the phenolic composition, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Inulaviscosamethanolic and aqueous leaves extracts were determined. The methanolic extract showed the highest levels of polyphenols and flavonoids. The antioxidant potency of methanol and aqueous extracts was investigated employing ABTS and B-carot è ne/acid linoleic methods. Results showed that methanolicand aqueous extracts were able to reduce the stable free radical ABTS with an ICs of 11,85±0,15μg/ml and 10,80±0,08μg/ml, respectively. The inhibition of B-carotene bleaching of mthanolic and aqueous extracts of Inulaviscosa were about 74% and 91%, respectively. The antibacterial activity was dé termined by the disc diffusion method against three strains of Gram-négative bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 13311, andtwo strains Gram-positive bacteria.; Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Bacillus cereus ATCC 10876, and one yeast Candida albicans. The Two extracts at 200 and 300 μg/mL were more effective inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 with range of 24-28.2 mm followed by Candida albicans at a range of 7-14.7 mm and Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 13311 with a range 9-11.2 mm. These results showed that both extracts possess a potent antioxidant and antimicrobial activities.
