Abstract
The study aims at identifying Al-Jazeera News Channel dependency on Twitter as a source of information and illustrates importance of user generated content, This study hopes to contribute to this area of research by examining the assumed social-media-to-online-news pattern of news consumption, particularly Twitter specifically when it comes to breaking news. The study used a quantitative content analysis to analyze 200 tweets collected from Al-Jazeera , from the period of October 1st to October 15th of 2020.The results indicated that Al-Jazeera posted tweets about political news . and rely on Twitter to disseminate human interest, more than any other type of news. Also, the results indicated that there is a strong correlation between the type of news and the number of retweets. Political news gets the greatest number of retweets and more replies than other type of news.This study hopes to contribute to investigate the type of content used in Twitter feeds, as well as the type of news on Twitter feeds in breaking news from Al-Jazeera news channel.We believe that this study will provide important insights for future research on Twitter
