Abstract
The use of literature in language classes proved to be an effective technique forteaching a foreign language. In fact, using short stories in english as a foreignlanguage (EFL) classroom could be the most suitable choice due to its simplicity andshortness compared with the other literary genres. This study attempts to investigate EFL teachers' and students' attitudes towards the use of short stories as a teaching material to enhance the learners' writing skill. To fulfill the aim of this study,two questionnaires were directed to both third year LMD students of civilization and teachers of written Expression to gather valid data about their attitudes toward the effect of theuse of short stories on enhancing the learners' writing skill. This study takes place at the english department at Larbi Ben M'Hidi university Oum-El-Bouaghi. Theanalysis of the results obtained from both questionnaires denoted that both studentsand teachers value the use of short stories to enhance learners' writing skill.
