dc.description.abstract | Excessive salinity affects the rhizosphere and limits the distribution of plants in theirnatural habitat. Durumwheatis an important cereal in terms of humanconsummation in many countries of the world. It isgrownmainly in the countries of the Mediterranean basin witharid and semi-aridclimate. In these areas, soil and irrigation water salinityis one of the limitingfactors in plant productivity and agricultural yield. This workaims to study the effect of soilsalinityusingdifferentlevels of NaCl on somemorphological and physiologicalproperties of durumwheat (TriticumdurumDesf) and its correction by spraying the stressed plants with four types of plant hormones in the BootingStage. The results obtainedallowed us to observe the negative impact of saline stress on the leaf area, pigments content at highersalinity levels. On the other hand the proline content has excessively increasedwith the rise of osmotic stress levels, particularly at higherlevels of salinity (15000 mg/1 NaC1). Auxin and Cytokinin are known to beinvolved in the regulation of plant responses to salinity stress and counteract the adverse effect of stress conditions. Exogenousspraying of Indole-3-Acetic acid (IAA) Indole Biotirique Acid (IBA), (Kinetin (Kn)) and Benzyl-Amino-purine (BAP) indicatedthat an increase in the leafarea, pigments content are accompanied with a decrease in the proline content. | |
