dc.description.abstract | The controversial 2020 normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan, represent a major shift in the political arena in the Middle East, especially in the context of the Palestinian issue. These agreements have sparked enthusiasm on the one hand and condemnation on the other, as some see them as... Tactics to enhance regional security and confront Iranian influence, while others consider them a betrayal of the Palestinian cause. This normalization process was the result of historical accumulations, political developments, and changes in regional relations over the years. The Arab world's position on the conflict has changed dramatically over the years, starting with a strong commitment to the Palestinian cause that sparked the Arab-Israeli War in 1948, then gradually turning to a decline in support until it ended with reconciliation and normalization with Israel. This political development was affected by various factors such as the dissolution of the Arab Higher Committee, the absence of important leaders, and the inability to implement the partition plan enacted by the United Nations in 1947, all of which led to a decline in Arab support for Palestine. Moreover, the Arab League's ability to make unified decisions has declined due to several events such as the Arab Spring uprisings and the Syrian Civil War, which has led to less interest in the Palestinian issue over time. On the other hand, relations between Israel and many Arab countries, especially the Arab Gulf countries, have increasingly appeared on the scene, which has increased divisions within the Arab world on this issue. This study aims to trace historical events starting from the Israeli-Arab war to the point of normalization. It aims to reveal the reasons behind this change using historical analysis and theories of international relations, such as neo-realism theory and constructivism theory. | |
