Abstract
This research work studies the nature and significance of the U.S.-China economic relations during Donald Trump's administration and its impact on the global economy. The work provides an historical overview of the Sino-American relationship, the main factors that shape it, and its regional and global outcomes, mainly in boosting trade and investment as well as enhancing peace and security. In fact, China's rapid economic growth and its rise as a new center superpower explains clearly how and why the US has sought to increase its involvement in the region after a period of relative neglect. In this regard, the work examines whether the economic relations between the two countries under Trump's leadership have fulfilled the strategy of enhancing peace and cooperation in the Pacific, or whether it has in fact magnified the potential for regional conflict. To give a consistent explanation, U.S-China trade war is taken as a case study. Overall, the work concludes that there are some reasons to expect cooperation, and due to the conflicting interests, the U.S.-China relations are driven to greater hostility.
