The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of EFL vocabulary teaching on enhancing EFL students' reading comprehension. As a first step, we hypothesize that there is a significant improvement in students' reading text comprehension if they are taught vocabulary in advence. A quasi-experimental design was conducted for the sake of examining the impact of teaching vocabulary on enhancing students'reading texts comprehension, thus; in order to achieve the aims of this research, thirty (30) third-year literary stream pupils at Behloul Said Secondary School "Ain Fekroun" were chosen to take part in this investigation. The sample was divided into an experimental and a control group. Both groups were pre-tested to assess their reading text comprehension. The experimental group went through eight sessions of treatment in which they were taught vocabulary through vocabulary lists and reading comprehension exercises in addition to vocabulary games. Finally, both groups were post-tested in the same way they were pre-tested. The obtained results showed that pupils who were taught vocabulary before post-test scored a statistically significant improvement in decoding and understanding of what they read compared to those who were not. To sum up, this study demonstrated that EFL vocabulary teaching is effective in enhancing EFL students' reading comprehension ability. That is to say, the research hypothesis was proved. As a result, it must be great stressing on teaching vocabulary due to its importance to decoding and understanding language.ar
