Abstract
This research aims at detecting whether the analysis of needs is present in the designing of ESP courses to third-year marketing students at Economic Sciences, Commerce and Management Department at Larbi Ben M'hidi University. In order to check the validity of this study, three hypotheses have been raised: ESP teachers at Economic Sciences, Commerce and Management department do not carry out needs analysis; marketing students' needs are not put into account, and the ESP designed lectures partially meet students' needs. To verify the validity of these hypotheses, the quantitative method was employed by means of two questionnaires. The first questionnaire was administered to thiry students of Marketing at Economic Sciences, Commerce and Management department, while the other questionnaire was administered to four ESP teachers in the same department. The results of the questionnaires show that the learners are aware about the importance of the English courses, but they are not satisfied because the courses do not meet their needs. They think they need to focus more on aural skills and vocabulary. Moreover, the ESP teachers do not assess their learners' needs while designing the courses. Thus, the students' needs are not met.
