This prospective study was conducted at ‘Oum El Bouaghi’ region for the purpose of obtaining information about the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women. Our results show that the prevalence of anemia during pregnancy is 46.5% for the age group between 27-32 years old. The risk of anemia appears to be strongly associated with the Hb level (73.2%) in regards to moderate anemia, parity (Paucigestes 66.7%) and gravidity (Pauciparous 52.1%). Results from other studies have shown that other factors are associated with anemia in pregnant women including: the pre-pregnancy BMI <18.5kg/m2 was a predictor of anemia, low education level for the women was an independent factor, houswifes more succeptible to exposure to anemia during their pregnancy, the most of affected women were from urban areas. Adopting an appropriate preventive strategy is the best way to combat the effects of the diseasear
