Discovery of several natural products, isolated from medicinal plants, contribute to avoid the resistance of pathogenic microorganisms to antibiotics. This work aims to study the chemical composition as well the effects of essential oils (EOS), from Ferula lutea (Apiaceae) aerial parts (Fruits, umbels, Stems and leaves) from Amoucha in Sétif, Eastern Algeria. The essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas-chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The antibacterial activity of the essential oils is evaluated by disk diffusion method (NCCLS) and tested against gram-positive (B. cereus, S. aureus) and gram-negative (E. coli, P. mirabilis) bacteria. The yields of the different parts of this plant (fruits, stems, umbels and leaves) were (2.484, 0.025, 1.248 and 0.213%) respectively. The main components of F. lutea EOS were 6-3-carene, a- pinene, limonene, cis-chrysanthenyl acetate and 2-3-6-trim é thylbenzaldehyde:(27,4-30,2-33,1-20,6):(16,5- 27,9-19,6-16,1);(5,2-9,5-7,8-10,5); ( 14,9-8,6-6,9-9,5) and(14,4-3,2-9,6-11,7 %). The screening of the antimicrobial effect revealed that the HE flowers showed the highest activity against all Gram-negative (E. coli, P. mirabilis) and Gram-positive (B. cereus, S. aureus) strains, the diameters of the inhibition zones are (13±2.12 - 12.83 ± 0.28) and (16.33 ± 0.76-10.16 ± 0.57) respectively. The results of IMC of EO flowers showed that Bacillus cereus is the most sensitive with IMC 3.33 mg/ml.
