Item Corruption and hyporcisy in Charles Dickens’s Novel Oliver Twist(University of Oum El Bouaghi, 2023) Sahraoui, Aymen; Zaouaga, Moncef; Stiti, RinadThe dissertation explores the identification of the social phenomena that is found within the literary work of Charles Dickens. Focusing on the novel Oliver Twist, the study aims to identify the two social phenomena that are represented in the novel more in the Victorian era. The study is conducted on the representation of hypocrisy and corruption and the impact of the two on the aspects of the environment in which the novel takes place, and the personality of the characters of the novel. Through a descriptive analysis of the novel, we thoroughly identify the portrayal of the two phenomena, as we argue that Charles Dickens didn't mention directly hypocrisy and corruption in his work. We also rely on the different critics and research conducted concerning the previously mentioned subject. The analysis of the characters and events of the novel highlights the major occurrences of hypocrisy and corruption and portrays how the social defect is manifested in it, as well as through the behaviorism of the different characters mentioned in the novel. Therefore, the results of the study contribute to identifying the manifestation of corruption and hypocrisy in the literary work of Charles Dickens and offer concrete evidence of the existence of the two previously mentioned social occurrences.Item Existentialism and the beauty of sublime in manga and anime Mob Psycho 100(Larbi Ben M’hidi University-Oum El Bouaghi, 2021) Khelaifia, Khawla; Aissani, Boutheina; Stiti, RinadManga and anime are quite underrated ,and not given enough attention in literary studies due to many factors; such as medium or the false belief that manga and anime are too plain to be taken seriously such as another form of literary works. However, the manga and its anime adaptation are worth studying because it contains all the fine artistic elements as in any other literary work of quality. Furthermore, manga and anime is a great field for philosophical theories which had always been related to literature. Both mangas or their anime adaptations can raise philosophical questions, and controversial issues that can be related to complex issues in which many masterpieces work of literature had tackled as main themes such as Existentialism and the beauty of the sublime. Generally, the existential theory in literature is highlighted and marked by many themes. Furthermore, it presents the characters in another scope that makes it easy to analyze the crisis they are going through. In addition to the existential theory, the theory of the sublime makes the protagonist wonder about the outcomes of his action or does his journey have a purpose or not? Therefore, this research aim is to manifold existentialism and the beauty of the sublime in the famous manga Mob Psycho 100 and its anime adaptation. This will show how both manga and anime matured as an important literary genre through the years and were able to shed the light on deep philosophical ideas and analyzing ONE& Yusuke Murata's Mob Psycho 100 to illustrate both existentialism and the sublime through breaking down the plot and characters.Item Femminism and innocence in Henry James's Daisy Miller (1982)(university of Oum-El-Bouaghi, 2016) Nedjar, Hadjer; Stiti, RinadDuring the 19th century, Woman was interested by feminist movements to maintain her female identity in her society; this makes her face a lot of troubles at the political, economic and the social level. This was widely explored by Henry James in which he titled it by "innocence", means that woman confronted with new societies, with no previous background about it. Particularly, he reflected this concept in his famous novella Daisy Miller in 1878. This study is based on the feminist interpretations of Henry James, and the way he depicted his American protagonist Daisy within European society; precisely, the freedom and innocence of Daisy, that leads her to fall in troubles of the European prejudices. Because of Daisy's ignorance with the European traditions.Item The Adaptation of William Shakespeare's drama and poetry in the arab world(university of Oum El Bouaghi, 2016) Kraichi, Hamza; Stiti, RinadLiterature is believed to be the widest field where literary figures, writers, authors, poets and playwrights exchange impact and influence, this field has never been determined or limited by cultural or geographical boundaries. The universal access of literature made literary figures from all over the world been covered and bound together, and what traced the path to writers of literature for being influenced by their consorts without having any geographical limitations, these cross-cultural meetings pave the way to the literary adaptations of a given writer by another. Literary adaptation is a very famous field of literature; its significance lies in making a local literary work universally accessed, and break the cultural and geographical boundaries between literary materials that are culturally different. Without these adaptations english and Shakespeare's literature would never reach the arab world boundaries, as many other writers around the world who took Shakespeare's works as a substance in adapting literature, arabs also have been part of these Shakespeare's adaptations. arab thinkers adapted Shakespeare's drama and poetry and tried to create a version of arabic Shakespeare, amongst them were, The Kuwaiti playwright Sulayman Al-Bassam, who utilized Shakespeare's drama to paint on theatres the picture of the political and social situation of the arab world, and the Lebanese poet Jawdat Haydar who adapted Shakespeare's sonnets through his poetry and made them even more understandable for the arab modern audience. These adaptations of Shakespeare's theatre and sonnets by Sulayman and Haydar participated in building that cross-cultural bridge which bound the arab audience with ShakespeareItem The Postcolonial feminist identity in the novels : "The god of small things" by Arundhati Roy and " Nedjma " by Kateb Yacine(university of Oum El Bouaghi, 2016) Ferrag, Wafa; Stiti, RinadThe aim of this research is to critically consider Arundhati Roy's novel The God of Small Things and Kateb Yacine one's Nedjma from a postcolonial feminist perspective, with a special focus on how they portray the situation of female characters taking as a background the discussions within postcolonial feminism about the women's identity, and the representations of women in literature.This point is reached by studying the main female characters in the novels: Mammachi, Baby Kochamma, Ammu, and Nedjma. In addition, our study demonstrates how the writer promotes for an ultimate solution to the problem language and its tied relation with identity.It throws the light on some important things of life like how love is always associated with sadness, how a person's childhood experiences affect his/her perspectives and whole life as a case of Nedjma and Ammu.
