    The Effectivness of explicit teaching of proverbs in enhancing vocabulary learning

    The present dissertation is intended to investigate the effectiveness of explicit teaching of proverbs in enhancing students' vocabulary learning. This is achieved through an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design. The participants were first year Licence, Master and Doctorate students at the English department at Larbi Ben M'Hidi University Oum-El Bouaghi. They were divided into two groups, the experimental and control group. Participants in both groups were pretested in the first meeting before conducting the treatment through a multiple-choice task. Then, the experimental group was taught proverbs explicitly within three sessions received three sessions. However, the control group was not exposed to any explicit teaching. A post- test was administered after the treatment; it was the same as the pre-test conducted at the beginning. The results present a crystal clear view of the influence of explicit teaching of proverbs on vocabulary learning enhancement.
