Item A Descriptive study on the effect of lesson plan on learners’ motivation case study(Université Oum El Bouaghi, 2021) Chibani, Massika; Nasri, Hicham; Guendouz, MeryemThe present study aims to explore the relationship between lesson plan and university learners' motivation, the hypothesis of this research is that if the teachers use a lesson plan appropriately, it will have a great influence on students' motivation .the objectives of this study are to find out to what extent the lesson plan can be effective , also to develop a suitable method to boost learners' motivation .This research is divided into three chapters. The first and the second chapters deal with the theoretical part which include an overview about lesson plan and motivation. The third chapter is the practical part which deals with two questionnaires for both teachers and students in order to test our hypothesis. Through teacher's questionnaire administered to twenty teachers at the department of English, Larbi Ben M'hidi UniversityOum El Bouaghi we tend to know if the teachers see planning as an important part for teaching while student's questionnaire administered to sixty nine second year students at the department of English in order to know whether the students benefit from teacher's planning or not and what are the most effective factors for boosting motivation .Thus, the results show that lesson plan plays a major role in motivating learners in an effective way.Item An Investigation of students' and teachers' attitudes towards the USA of flipped clasrooms in enhancing students' level of participation(university of Oum- El- Bouaghi, 2017) Talbi, Nessrine; Guendouz, MeryemThe present study spots light on a new approach of teaching known as flipped classrooms, that is stands for having classes without lectures, but we have learners as a center of the learning process .the teachers provide their students with videos, on line documents, and digital lectures, but the classroom time is to be used in group works, group discussions, mini-lectures, and differentiated pacing and timing. This work is presented to have better understanding of principles, and goals of such approach and to see its adequateness in Algerian context to be applied as whole , since teachers provide their students with an on line documents, or mini lectures inside or outside the classroom , and they emphasize its effectiveness in developing students' level of participation .Moreover ,questionnaires are designed for teachers and students of English department of Oum El Bouaghi University to examine their perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes towards flipped learning. The results show that teachers and students perceive this approach positively, in the same time they stressed the importance of lectures. Further, it seems there is hope of applying flipped classes as a whole approach.Item Investigating problems of teaching and learning the english language culture in secondary schools(University of Oum El Bouaghi, 2018) Lebcir, Amel; Guendouz, MeryemCulture and language are closely related, they are two sides of one coin; teaching language automatically means teaching culture. Notwithstanding the close relationship that holds between language and culture needs no longer to be demonstrated because language is essentially rooted in the reality of culture to the point that social life can not be explained without constant reference to the broader contexts of verbal utterances. The main objective of this study is to explore the cultural challenges that hinder the process of teaching and learning the English Language in Algerian Secondary Schools and to suggest solutions to overcome these problems. More perticularly, the present study sheds light on the problems of teaching and learning the English Language Culture in Secondary Schools. A discriptive method has been conducted. Two questioonaires were administered to (100) second and third year pupils and (20) English teachers of different Secondary Schools at the level of the Wilaya of Oum El Bouaghi. The target population of our study is Secondary School teachers of English and pupils.the results of this study obtained reveals that results of the study asserted that both teachers and students have their own perspectives and views about teaching and learning a foreign culture through learning English as a foreign language.Item Investigating the Impact of Negative Transfer from Arabic on EFL learners’ Lexical Collocation Errors Production Error Analysis approach(University Of Oum El Bouaghi, 2019) Boukhalfa, Soraya; Zaouia, Fatima Zohra; Guendouz, MeryemTo achieve native like proficiency, it is proved that English collocations are among the most significant aspects in second language learning (L2). This study aims at investigating the impact of negative transfer on EFL learners' English lexical collocation errors production. Based on the assumption that third year English foreign language (EFL) students reached at least an acceptable level in English, it is hypothesized that collocation errors produced by EFL learners are due to negative transfer from Arabic. To check these hypotheses, a test was submitted to twenty three third year students. Teachers' questionnaire was also used to support the test findings. The results show that EFL learners do not produce English lexical collocations correctly. According to research tools analysis, interpretation and discussion, negative transfer from Arabic is the primary cause of English lexical collocations problems without ignoring the other reasons that may affect too. Hence, the research hypotheses are confirmed.Item The Effect of electronic games on EFL learners' spelling(university of Oum- El- Bouaghi, 2017) Zerrouki, Nadjib; Guendouz, MeryemRegarding the great importance of spelling in reading and writing, and therefore in literacy, the main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of electronic games on EFL learners' spelling. The challenge is to confirm or reject the hypothesis which states that if teachers use electronic games, learners would improve their spelling. A quasi-experimental design was adopted to reveal the effect of electronic games on learners' spelling. Then a questionnaire was administered to check whether or not the participants enjoy using electronic games to improve their spelling. The findings of experimental quantitative data confirmed the main hypothesis. That is, electronic games affect positively the learners' spelling. The findings of the questionnaire qualitative data also confirmed that the participants enjoy the use of electronic games to improve their spelling. Therefore, it is necessary for teachers to make sure that students are aware about the importance of electronic games in learning.Item The Effects of the total physical response (TPR) on pupils’ english vocabulary learning(University of Oum El Bouaghi, 2023) Saadouni, Ghada; Sedira, Kaouther; Guendouz, MeryemThis study aims at investigating the effects of using the total physical response on first year pupils' English vocabulary learning at Boutighen Mohammed middle school-Tebessa. It examines whether there has been any difference between the control group and experimental groupwhich were taught using different teaching techniques used. Hence, a sample of 84 first year pupils was randomly selected to participate in the experiment. To this end, two assumptions have been formulated: the first states that if we apply the total physical response activities for middle school learners, it may enhance their vocabulary acquisition. The second suggests that learners will actively respond to this technique and get motivated in the classroom. Hence, a sample of 43 first year pupils was randomly selected to participate in the experimental group while 41 pupils were chosen to participate in the control group. The pupils in the experimental group received a one-month treatment that is centred on the TPR activities while the other group namely the control group was taught using the school textbook and pedagogical activities. The obtained results show a general improvement in the pupils' performance and use of vocabulary after receiving the treatment. In this sense, it is very important to mention that the total physical response needs teachers' attention due to its positive impact in reducing stress of pupils, entertaining them during the foreign language classes as coordination of speech and action facilitates language learning.Item The Positive effect of implementing the scanning skill on learnes reading comprehension(university of Oum-El-Bouaghi, 2013) Hadji, Rana; Guendouz, MeryemThe present research paper has explored the role of the scanning skill in enhancing students' reading comprehension. Several studies that havebeen conducted in this field have proved that students’ awareness of the different comprehension skills develop their comprehension of the handed material. To examine the effect of the scanning skill on comprehension, a quasi-experimental study was conducted, dealing with two groups of first year LMD students of english at Larbi Ben M’Hidi university of Oum-El-Bouaghi. The first group served as a control \group while the other as an experimental group. Importantly, subjects in both groups were first tested and the ultimate goal was to get an idea about their current level so that results are compared later on. After the instructional period, a post-test was conducted for the experimental group as well as the control group. It is of interest to mention that the pre-test and the post-test were identical. The post-test results reveal that the experimental group subjects achieved higher scores than those of the control group. Therefore, we can say that the scanning skill plays a great role in developing student’s reading comprehension.
