(university of Oum-El-Bouaghi, 2015) Cherirou, Othmen; Bouaziz, Soumia
This research work aims at investigating the effectiveness of using board games as ateaching technique to enhance and facilitate the teaching of english grammar, the case of second year pupils atMaansarMilad middle school, AinKercha. In order to check this correlation, we have hypothesized thatif english teachers use board games in teaching english grammar, it would bring a significant improvement on learner's mastery of grammar rules. To verify the validity of this hypothesis,we have used two tools ofdata collection: teachers' questionnaire and anexperiment. The firsttoolaims at investigatingteachers' attitudes about using games in teaching english grammar to young learners. For the second tool,30 pupilswere chosen randomly and divided equally into two groups. Pupils in the control group have been taught within the usual grammar instruction, while pupils in the experimental group have been exposed to the new way of grammar instruction throughout the use of board games strategy introduced by the researcher. The analysis of the experiment results and the interpretation of the teachers' questionnaire showed that using board games can be very effective in facilitating the teaching/learning of English grammar for both the teacher and the pupils.
