Item An Investigation into the effects of flipped classroom teaching model on EFL learners’ vocabulary knowledge(Université Oum El Bouaghi, 2021) Soltani, Rim; Benhamlaoui, LamineVocabulary holds an important rank in the linguistic system. Although researchers in the field offers a number of approaches and methods to vocabulary teaching and learning, there has not been a method that best enhances the learning of that segment. In recent years, Flipped Classroom Model (FCM); a new didactical method that relies on the use of online technology in teaching and learning has been examined. Hence, this research aims to investigate the effect of FCM on enhancing the vocabulary knowledge of EFL learners. A quasi experimental research was adopted and the data was obtained from an experimental test. It took place at Fellah Mohamed Lakhiari middle school- Oum El Bouaghi. The participants are fourth year pupils composing two groups. These groups represented an experimental and a control group. While the latter received treatment with a traditional method, the former received FCM treatment. Pre-post-test design was conducted to compare the effect of both treatments. The analysis of the tests revealed that using FCM in teaching vocabulary to EFL learners enhances their vocabulary knowledge. The present study seeks to investigate the attitudes of EFL Teachers’ towards the use of online and digital learning platforms at L’Arbi Ben Mhidi University of Oum El Bouaghi in order to scope for the challenges that EFL teachers encounter during the teaching process . Also, Teachers who are used to online teaching and have better technology skills develop positive attitudes towards online learning. In order to achieve the aims of this descriptive study, a questionnaire was designed and submitted online to EFL teachers at the department of English. It exposed that EFL teachers are aware of the advantages of online teaching making it more beneficial. However, other EFL teachers prefer the traditional in-class teaching because of the inconveniences and challenges they encounter when teaching online, due to lack of technology training workshops, as well as the technical problems they face. Some pedagogical recommendations are suggested to pave the way for a better implementation of online teaching process such as raising awareness of the importance of teaching via online tools. Institutions can better support teachers in integrating digital tools, ultimately enhancing the quality, effectiveness of EFL instruction, and investing in training.Item Investigating students’ attitudes towards the english syllabus design(Université De Larbi Ben M’hidi Oum EL Bouaghi, 2021) Ziad, Belkisse Chahinez; Benhamlaoui, LamineSyllabus design is a very important step in the teaching-learning process in English of Specific Purposes (ESP) that provides information about the course goals and objectives and what will be required by the learners. Needs analysis is considered the key feature of designing a syllabus. This research is about investigating Master one and Master two Law students' needs towards syllabus design at L'Arbi Ben M'hidi University. It aims to identify the needs of Law students to design a suitable English syllabus that fits their language learning needs. The type of the language, the language skills and sub-skills were the core of the syllabus design. A quantitative research method was used for conducting this research by depending on a questionnaire that was handed to both levels of master students of Law department. The study was carried out in the department of Law at L'Arbi Ben M'hidi University, Oum El Bouaghi, with fifty six (56) master students of the academic year 2020-2021. The results of this study showed that law department master students need to learn both specific and general English that includes learning the speaking skill with all of the language sub skills.Item Investigating the applicability of visual aids in the teaching of reading Oum El Bouaghi University(University of Oum El Bouaghi, 2023) Boumedjane, Meriem; Boumahdjour, Nihad; Benhamlaoui, LamineVisual aids have a big interest in the educational settings. Due to its positive impact on languagelearning, especially in reading classes, researchers have emphasizedtheir incorporation in teachingreading to enhance the students' comprehension of the texts. The major aim of thisstudyis to determine the advantages of usingvisualaids in reading sessions by determining the teachers' perceptions towards the employment of thesematerials. Accordingly, a quantitative methodbased on a questionnaire isadopted in order to examine the researchhypothesisthat the use of visualaids in teachingreadingimprove EFL learnersreadingcomprehension. The questionnaire wasadministered to 12 teachers at the English Department of Oum El Bouaghi University to collecttheir perceptions. The resultsrevealedthat the incorporation of visualaidsincrease the students' comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, motivation, and encourage communication despite the challenges faced by bothteachers and students in the classroom. Finally, the smallsample size and the reliance on the questionnaire as the only data collection toollimitsourability to generalize the outcomes of ourstudy. Eventually, itisrecommendedthat new technologies like visualaidsshouldbeincorporated in language classes in order to increase engagement and learningoutcomes.Item Investigating the problems encountered by EFL students when writing the research proposal(University of Oum El Bouaghi, 2024) Fadloun, Ikhlas; Sider, Nour El Houda; Benhamlaoui, LamineThe present study sheds light on the difficulties and problems students at Larbi Ben M’Hidi University of Oum El Bouaghi face during the year of 2023/2024 when writing their research proposal. A descriptive method has been used to confirm the hypothesis, which states that students face problem with choosing the appropriate topic, limited time and problem with the supervisor when writing their proposal. A questionnaire was used as a tool for data collecting from Master two students of English at Larbi Ben M’Hidi University. The questionnaire detected that student encountered problems with writing the methodology section. Equally important, students face problems with choosing the appropriate topic. Various studies were conducted to find out what has been changed in the writing course during the Covid19 and how these changes affected teachers and learners. The present dissertation aims at investigating teachers and learners' concerns about the induced changes in the writing subject at Oum El Bouaghi University during Covid19 pandemic. It aims at answering the question: Do teachers and learners similar (or different) concerns about the teaching and learning requirements of writing during Covid-19 pandemic? The research relies on the questionnaire as the research tool to investigate teachers and learners perceptions about the issue. The results of the study provided a concluding answer to the research question showing that both teachers and students have the same concerns about the needs of written expression during Covid19 pandemic.Item The Effectiveness of using authentic videos as a teaching tool to improve EFL students accent: the case of third year students of english at L'arbi Ben M'hidi(University of Oum El Bouaghi, 2023) Raghdi, Hanane; Benhamlaoui, LamineThis research investigates the effectiveness of using authentic videos as a teaching tool to improve the accent of third-year EFL students at l'Aarbi Ben Mhidi University. The objective of this study is to examine the impact of incorporating authentic videos on students' accent improvement. A quasi-experimental design was utilized, and a checklist was employed to evaluate students' progress. Additionally, students' speech was recorded as they read a passage related to the theme presented in the authentic videos. A pre-test and post-test were administered to assess changes in students' accents after exposure to the authentic videos. A statistically significant difference was recorded between post-test and pre-test's results, indicating that the authentic videos had a positive impact on improving students' accents. The findings of this study suggest that using authentic videos as a teaching tool can be effective in enhancing EFL students' accents. Integrating authentic video materials into language instruction can provide valuable exposure to natural language patterns, leading to improved pronunciation and accent.
