    Socio-economic dynamics and spatial mutations of Skikda City

    A city’s identity reflects its socio-economical dynamics. Skikda has always been identified as an excellent city for blue tourism and agriculture lands.The present article employs a mixed method approach, focusing on the socio-demo-economic interaction by interrogating the shift from agricultural to industry to services. Additionally, the Advantages, Disadvantages, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) method is used to assess the city's agricultural land potential. Results have demonstrated that Skikda has shifted to become a socio-spatial mosaic, a disjointed collection lacking of harmony or articulation. The examination of the city of Skikda advocatesthe assertion of agriculture's and tourism's complementary roles in the city's growth project. must be viewed in the context of its contribution to the development of an urban living environment that fosters contributing to social and economic regeneration.
