Item Hplc characterization, anticholinesterase, anti-a- glucosidase and antioxidant activity of aerial extracts of mentha rotundifolia(l)(University of Oum El Bouaghi, 2021-12-13) Kecies, Hadjeri; Abdelouhab,YahiaIn order to valorise the Algerian flora, we are interested in a species of the family of Labiatae, The plant which we selected belongs to the genus of Mentha "Mentha rotundifolia L.", is locally known as "timija", and used mostly as condiment but also for medicinal properties, stimulative, stomachic, antiemetic, anti-spasmodic, antidiarrheal, anti-haemorrhoidal, anti-inflammatory, sedative, hypotensive, analgesic and insecticidal activities. Method: The total bioactive content, antioxidant and anti-enzymatic effects of the methanolic extract of the aerial part of M. rotundifolia were evaluated using in vitro assays, High amounts of total phenolics, Flavonoids and flavanol were recorded: 109,28 ± 5,27μg GAeq.mg, 63,34±1,14 μg Qeq.mg and 44,65 ± 2,45 μg Req.mg respectively. HPLC characterization indicates a highest concentration of quercetin (10,70±0,01 mg/Kg) among the flavonoid and gallic acid (8,022 ±0.01mg/Kg) among the polyphenols, They equally investigated for their antioxidant potential utilizing three in vitro assays: DPPH, ABTS + and CUPRAC. The methanol extract exhibited also an interesting inhibitory effect against AChE and a glycosidase with IC50 values of (114,68±2,18 μg/ml) and (181,25± 3,71 μg/ml) respectively, comparable to that of galanthamine and Acarbos respectively. Conclusion: Our findings identified the appropriate part of plant of Mentha rotundifolia (L.) presented which might provide a rich source of natural antioxidants.
