The study aims to identify how cynical political caricature addresses Algerian legislative elections, and to identify related topics, which the cartoonist "Ayoub" focuses on while employing the artistic and expressive characteristics of caricature. The study relied on Roland Barth's semiotic approach, applied to an intentional sample of five images published during the June election period. The study reached several conclusions, most notably that the caricatures dealt with many topics related to the legislative elections, and attempted to embody the political reality in Algeria, the relationship between the voter and the candidate and the image that the public paints about the future of Parliament, through caricatures with profound connotations, in a visual and symmetrical tongue-in-cheek format with explicit meanings.
